Pre-K/Kindergarten Teacher
Job Summary: Provide a safe, stimulating environment for young children. Conduct individual and group activities to encourage learning and develop social interaction skills. Maintain appropriate records of attendance and activities. Maintain a professional working relationship with parents of children in your class.
Reports to the Director and Assistant Director
Qualifications:
- 04 Teacher License
- An interest in and commitment to working children and families
- Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children
- Ability and willingness to be flexible with differing job responsibilities
- Excellent oral communication sills
- Meets the standards set by DCFS as stated in sections 407.100, 407.110, and 407.140 of the Licensing Standards for Day Care Centers
Duties:
- Greet families and children as they arrive
- Plan the classrooms daily programs, learning experiences and routines with the flexibility that is required when working with young children
- Implement the Kindergarten curriculum as set forth by the Director and Board
- Observe children individually and in groups to identify their abilities, strengths, and interests
- Teach to each child’s level
- Care and educate children
- Discuss the children’s progress with the parents formally at conferences and on an informal meetings
- Make or adapt learning resources
- Model appropriate behavior
- Teach and model peaceful conflict resolution as set forth in Curriculum
- Remain in compliance with the DCFS licensing standards and policies.
